NAME:  Heather Day

JOB:   Clinical Data Abstractor for Allina Health

FAVORITE MUSIC TYPE / GROUP: Anything OTHER THAN Bruce Hornsby.

CHILDREN / PETS ?:  spoiled mutt, Lyle

FAVORITE VACATION SPOT:  Oregon/west coast

HOBBIES:  spending time outdoors/in the woods, foraging, snowshoeing, canoeing, cooking, reading, traveling

HOW LONG HAVE YOU DONE CROSSFIT AND WHAT MADE YOU TRY IT OUT ?  I joined Top Gun in November of 2017.  My husband Noah kept telling me how "fun"  and challenging the WODs were.   I had been doing hour long classes at Lifetime for several years so was a little skeptical that the relatively short WODs he talked about could be as hard as he said they were.

WHAT WERE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT CROSSFIT AT FIRST? That Noah was right. And, I didn't think it was possible to get that sore for days following a workout. 

DESCRIBE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT CROSSFIT AND HOW IT HAS IMPACTED YOUR LIFE: I like the huge variety of movements and the continuous long-term challenge trying to master them presents.  I also appreciate how encouraging and willing to share tips both the coaches and other members are.  

FAVORITE WORKOUT:  I struggle with most of the lifts so enjoy met con style workouts like the Murph and Filthy Fifty best

HOBBIES:Skiing, Swimming, video games, Spikeball

HOW LONG HAVE YOU DONE CROSSFIT AND WHAT MADE YOU TRY IT OUT:  I have been doing Crossfit consistently since the fall of 2017 soo a little over a year. I had just moved back to MN and saw Top Gun a few blocks from my new house. I had done Crossfit after finishing my career as a college swimmer, but wasn't going to a formal gym so I knew I liked it a little. It was actually out of the garage of Cody Mooney's first coach.

WHAT WERE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT CROSSFIT AT FIRST? "man these workouts are hard but I love it- I better catch the person next to me!" - it reminds me a lot of swim practice because of the pacing and knowing your "numbers"

DESCRIBE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT CROSSFIT AND HOW IT HAS IMPACTED YOUR LIFE: I love the challenge of the workouts (I actually enjoy the hurt), watching my maxes increase. I'd say my other favorite thing is the team/family component - everyone is at the gym to get better in their own way, at their own level. Crossfit has impacted my life by giving me some new drinking buddies, goals with maxes and times for benchmark workouts. I have also gained about 25 - 30 pounds.. of mostly muscle? :)

FAVORITE WORKOUT: Fran? Or anything without double unders. 

FAVORITE MOVEMENT: Bench Press, Rowing, Bicep Curls, Handstand walks (still learning)
