JOB: Nurse Manager at a mental health facility

FAVORITE MUSIC TYPE / GROUP: I like most music depending on my mood, but not really country.

CHILDREN / PETS ?: my kid is my dog Jewel, who I adopted almost a year ago.

FAVORITE VACATION SPOT: I haven't gotten to travel much other than to other states when I played soccer, but I will be going to the Dominican Republic in February and I have a feeling that will be my favorite spot.

HOBBIES: Working out, kayaking, hiking, four wheeling up north, shooting guns, and finding a good happy hour spot or brewery. I also love a good motorcycle ride.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU DONE CROSSFIT AND WHAT MADE YOU TRY IT OUT ? I have been doing crossfit just over a year. I wanted to try it because in the past when I lifted on my own I would get burnt out and bored and then would not workout for awhile. I liked the idea of having someone else program for me and each day was different. I also love the community.

WHAT WERE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT CROSSFIT AT FIRST? I thought it was super hard, but I loved the challenge.

DESCRIBE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT CROSSFIT AND HOW IT HAS IMPACTED YOUR LIFE: It has gotten me interested in fitness again, given me the opportunity to compete and continues to challenge me. It is also a huge stress reliever after a long day at work.

FAVORITE WORKOUT: I don't have a specific workout that I like, but I like chippers or workouts that have a set amount of reps and you do it as fast as you can.

FAVORITE MOVEMENT: back squat, but I love learning the snatch and clean and jerk. There is always some small thing that can be tweaked to improve the movement and ultimately lift heavier.

How long have you done crossfit and what made you try it out? Prior to joining Top Gun, I had done crossfit on my own for about 2.5 - 3 years during college. I had lost weight going vegan after succumbin to the "Freshman 15". Even though I lost weight, I didn't feel like I had gotten and fitter. I found Crossfit through the mainsite and attempted the daily WOD.
What were your thoughts about Crossfit at first? Wow, I am really out of shape, but dang this is fun! The challenge was addicting and left me wanting more. I was especially impressed by the gymastic-centric movements within many of the workouts.
Describe your favorite things about Crossfit and how it has impacted your life: How much time do we have? Other than continuing to lose body fat and becoming physically stronger, I absolutely love the constantly varying nature behind Crossfit; knowing that the workout changes everyday and there is no predictable pattern is very enjoyable and keeps exercise engaging. Coming from doing Crossfit individually, I also love the community aspect and being a part of an affiliate gym. The support around you on a daily basis and results you see and feel by far surpass anything achieved alone.
Favorite Workout: a nice, long chipper.
Favorite Movement: Dare I say Wall Balls?
