WHAT WERE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT CROSSFIT AT FIRST? It wasn't as scary as people make it out to be, and the community isn't really a cult...

DESCRIBE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT CROSSFIT AND HOW IT HAS IMPACTED YOUR LIFE:  I like that CrossFit involves so many movements and highlights the strengths of different athletes. Everyone has the opportunity to be successful in one workout while the next one might just kick their butt. CrossFit has helped me realize all shapes and sizes of bodies can be strong and healthy, I have made amazing friends, and as a coach I'm able to hopefully inspire others to be their best! But, probably most of all, I love the community!

HOW LONG HAVE YOU DONE CROSSFIT AND WHAT MADE YOU TRY IT OUT ?I have done it for about 2 and a half years now. I didn't work out during my life and I really wanted to be in good shape to become healthier mentally and physically. I remember googling CrossFit gyms after I met a person that did it and they said it was really effective. I had also seen a video of a doctor talking about how short burst high intensity work outs were the best kind for you. I was a chain smoker and I wanted to quit smoking too. I saw Top Gun and I thought that anyone that has a gym named after the movie Top Gun has to be cool. I think I was right because Steve is really cool. Also Meghan's story about quitting cigarettes thanks to CrossFit helped motivate me to come to Top Gun as well.

WHAT WERE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT CROSSFIT AT FIRST? I wasn't surprised that I couldn't do a lot of the movements that well because I was out of shape and a chain smoker but I thought it was awesome because the people were so nice, welcoming and supportive. It was intense but I like intensity in working out because it feels like meditation being so involved in each work out and getting to the point of exhaustion feels like I'm really working hard. It's very satisfying.

DESCRIBE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT CROSSFIT AND HOW IT HAS IMPACTED YOUR LIFE: My favorite things about CrossFit are that it has positively impacted my life, I feel healthier and more confident, I have quit smoking even though it took me 2 years. I was smoking cigarettes on the way to the gym for Saturday mornings or on the way to other classes, chain smoking on my days off work and then all the way up until I went to class. Getting rid of that habit feels great, it was really weighing me down. People are nice, it's full of mature adults that are just cool and nice to be around, it feels uplifting and I look up to a lot of the people there.
